The Greenville Swamp Rabbits roared into action for their first game of the season, showcasing new warmup jerseys and an intense determination to start the campaign on a winning note. Facing off against the Norfolk Admirals, the Rabbits secured a thrilling 3-2 victory, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.


The Bon Secours Wellness Arena served as the battleground for this thrilling encounter, with fans eagerly anticipating the return of hockey action. The game did not disappoint, as it delivered a rollercoaster of excitement.


The Rabbits wasted no time making their presence felt. In the opening period, they notched two early goals, setting the tone for a promising start. Just 6 minutes and 19 seconds into the game, J. McKechney found the back of the net, assisted by B. Kemp and B. McManus, with the Rabbits on the power play. This electrifying moment was followed by another goal at 10:01, with B. Kemp striking the target, courtesy of assists from C. Souch and B. Russell.

However, the Norfolk Admirals were not to be outdone. They responded swiftly, as B. Murray scored their first goal at 10:25 in the first period, aided by K. Jameson, while on the power play.

The second period saw the Admirals continuing their resurgence, with D. Fensore netting the equalizer at 2:04, putting the score at 2-2.

As the game entered the third period, the tension was palpable, and both teams fought fiercely for the advantage. The decisive moment arrived at the 8:01 mark, with Jake Smith of the Swamp Rabbits seizing the opportunity and firing in a crucial goal, securing the lead. The goal was made possible by assists from B. Kemp and M. Martin on the power play.


This thrilling showdown between the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and the Norfolk Admirals ended with a final score of 3-2 in favor of the Rabbits, sparking celebrations among the home fans.
