Sports enthusiasts across the state of Georgia are gearing up for an exciting new addition to their television lineup. Peachtree Sports Network, Gray Television's latest sports broadcasting venture, is set to make its grand debut on Sunday, October 1st, exclusively on WPCH 17.2. This eagerly awaited channel promises a year-round feast of live, local sports action, showcasing teams from various sports disciplines, all with a strong Georgia connection.
While the network kicks off in Atlanta, sports aficionados across the state can look forward to catching their favorite teams in action as Peachtree Sports Network gradually expands its reach to Gray-owned over-the-air channels in Albany, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah in the coming months.
Erik Schrader, Vice President and General Manager of WANF and WPCH, expressed his excitement about the channel's launch: "As a lifelong sports fan, I know firsthand that many of us fell in love with sports by watching our local teams on broadcast television. While existing fans may already follow their teams through paid subscriptions, there's no denying that new sports enthusiasts are born watching games on broadcast stations. Georgia boasts an impressive array of teams that deserve a broader audience, and countless sports fans simply need a station where they can tune in to live events. We're thrilled to be pioneers in what will undoubtedly become a cherished sports tradition across our great state."
Peachtree Sports Network plans to bring live game action from an eclectic mix of sports, including the College Park Skyhawks of the NBA G-League, high school football through Score Atlanta, hockey showdowns featuring the Atlanta Gladiators and the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL, the high-speed action of the Georgia Swarm from the National Lacrosse League, and ultimate disc battles from the Atlanta Hustle of the American Ultimate Disc League.
Chief Revenue Officer of the College Park Skyhawks, Andrew Saltzman, shared his enthusiasm, stating, "We are delighted to be part of the exciting new Peachtree Sports Network and bring College Park Skyhawks basketball to fans all over Georgia. The G-League's growth has been remarkable, and now even more fans will have the chance to experience the thrill of Skyhawks basketball."
Andy Arlotta, Co-owner & President of the Georgia Swarm, added, "We are thrilled about our renewed partnership with Peachtree TV. This collaboration not only benefits our organization but also our corporate partners, stakeholders, the National Lacrosse League, and most importantly, our expanding fanbase in metro Atlanta."
Bob Ohrablo, President of Zawyer Sports, expressed his excitement for both the Atlanta Gladiators and Savannah Ghost Pirates: "The Gladiators' popularity continues to soar, with a 22% increase in attendance last season, a new four-year lease with the Gas South Arena, and a new NHL partnership with the Nashville Predators. The Savannah Ghost Pirates stormed into the ECHL last season, setting a record for season tickets in ECHL history and selling out 30 of 33 home games. As affiliates of the Stanley Cup Champions, the Vegas Golden Knights, they are gearing up for another thrilling season at the Enmarket Arena."
The action-packed lineup kicks off on Friday, October 6th, with a high school football clash between Cass and Cartersville at 8 pm, courtesy of Score Atlanta. I.J. Rosenberg, President of Score Atlanta, emphasized the network's significance: "Peachtree Sports Network provides us with a unique opportunity to bring all sports under one television roof. This is an incredible platform for giving athletes greater exposure and for developing more programming centered around high school sports."
John Boezi, General Manager of the Atlanta Hustle, representing ultimate disc enthusiasts, remarked, "The Atlanta Hustle is proud to represent our city and our sport on Peachtree Sports Network. Ultimate disc is an exhilarating and emerging local favorite, and with PSN's support, we're excited to introduce a wider audience to the Atlanta Hustle next summer."
