Both Brown and Monmouth Hawks came into this game with a record of 3-2. The buzzer goes off and Brown Bears have possession and Charlotte Jewell knocks down three and you could hear her say to Kyla “Good pass baby” all smiles. At the 5-minute mark in the second Monmouth’s Lovin Marsicano hit a jumper and cut the deficit to 4 (28-24). Grace Arnolie said not on my watch and knocked down another three. Here comes Monmouth Hawks’ Vanderhoop and she hits a timely three and their bench yells “their it is”. At the half Brown Bears was leading 40-32 shotting 53.8% from the field and 66.7% from three. Top performers were Charlotte Jewel with 12pts Grace Arnolie with 9pts and the team had 11 assist, and 11 fast break points. Monmouth shooting 41.4% from the field and their top performers were Kacie Donovan with 11pts and Ariana Vanderhoop with 8pts.
The battle of the third begins and Monmouth came out ready to battle. Kacie Donovan could not be stopped. She had this sweet and 1, then a base line jumper bringing her squad within 4 (48-44). Bears Mya Murray had a nice euro step to the basket and the bench and crowd went crazy. Tie game (67-67) with 1:58 left in the game and Grace Arnolie added her razzle dazzle with a layup taking the lead, but Monmouth did not back down, and Belle Kranbuhl made a jumper and ties the game again 69-69. With 6 seconds left in game Grace Arnolie is fouled on the 3-point line and gets the last one to fall and wins the game for the Brown Bears 70-69. Brown Bears are on a 4-game winning streak. Shooting 48.1% from the field and top performers were Grace Arnolie with 23pts, 3ast, 3stls, Charlotte Jewell 14 pts, and Mackenize Leahy 11pts. Top performers for the Monmouth Hawks were Kaci Donovan with 22pts, Belle Kranbuhl with 9pts and Ariana Vanderhoop with 8pts.
